We have 2 x Level 2 (Development coaches) within the Borders of Dyfed and 11 x Level 1 (Session coaches) and no Level 3 (County Coaches)
Any Archer wishing to become a Level 1 Coach can receive full information on the Archery GB website or they can come to me on spartie@outlook.com for guidance. Same goes for any Level 1 wishing to promote to Level 2 etc..
So, what’s planned for now regarding Coaching in Dyfed
There will be an “Archer to Level 1” course staring in April which will all be in attendance (not online) details are fully available on the ArcheryGB website. Applications need to be direct and not through a Club or a CCO. The course will be Cardiff way so may not appeal to all due to the distance but it is an opportunity for Archers that do not want to wait and want to get the course done quickly so passing the information on.
On the 12th / 13th April a Coaching day hosted at Cymric Archers / Pembrey Park . In attendance will be Alan Grimshaw a Level 3 County Coach and a general invite to newish Archers who would like to have their Archery fundamentals checked and would hopefully receive some positive tips in moving forward. We do aim to have several of these courses each year.
Are there any Clubs out there willing to host such an event at their clubs if we could find an appropriate Coach?
The potential of a top Paralympic Archer giving a lecture – again Dyfed would be invited – details / venue to follow
For the Coaches themselves. a similar workshop to last year for those that missed it with several lectures from various experienced Archers. Most probably will be staged in Glamorgan and all Wesh Counties would be invited to attend. This was well received and well attended, and we will advise when we receive more details
If we can get hold of them Archery GB Coaching staff to visit Wales for a Q& A
Covid had hit Archery GB as with all sports very hard and in many cases, it is a rebuilding programme and will require a lot of hard work to get the Coaching levels up on all levels and then the coaching to reach the individual Archers. This work is ongoing but any input from Archers / Coaches are welcome
Dyfed will work with other Counties e.g. Glamorgan / Gwent to help pool our resources to stage workshops / events. Most of these will likely to Cardiff way although the vision is to stage future events within Dyfed itself so that our Archers / Coaches would not have to travel so far. Again, if your club can help stage such an event then please contact DAA.
